One of our favorite Plymouth, MI events returns in January to delight and inspire you. Visitors from all around are invited to the 2019 Plymouth Ice Festival to view the beautiful ice sculptures and enjoy all downtown Plymouth has to offer.
This free event kicks off on Friday, January 11, with the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting at 7:00 pm. Ice sculptures are available for viewing 24 hours a day and will remain standing after the event, weather permitting. The official festival hours are:
Friday, January 11 - 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Saturday, January 12 - 10:00 am to 10:00 pm
Sunday, January 13 - 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
The Plymouth Ice Festival - Enjoy Winter in Downtown Plymouth
The Plymouth Ice Festival will feature over 100 ice sculptures, live carving demonstrations, and photo ops galore. The whole family will be entertained by food, shopping, and activities for all ages.
Some events and activities to look forward to include:
Genisys Credit Union Collegiate Ice Carving Competitions - Watch live carvings as local college students compete for first place in their category. Individuals will complete on Saturday from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm and teams on Sunday from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.
DTE Energy Foundation Tubing Run - Take a ride down over 100 feet of snow! Hours are Friday, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Saturday, 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Sunday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Ally Financial Dueling Chainsaws Competition - Ice carvers have only 15 minutes and a chainsaw to turn a block of ice into an amazing sculpture. Watch them on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
Ice Playground - New this year! Interactive ice sculptures provide a playground and countless photo opportunities. Bring the kids!
Family Petting Zoo - More fun for the kids and young-at-heart, the petting zoo will feature horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, alpaca and a calf. Visit the animals on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm, weather permitting.
Fire and Ice - When these two opposites are combined, they create a dazzling display! The ice towers will be set ablaze around 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday and burn for about 2 hours.
Blue Care Network of Michigan Cross Country Zone presented by Sun and Snow Sports - Stop by on Saturday or Sunday between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm to watch a live cross-country skiing demonstration, then let the kids try it!
Party Lot at EG Nick’s - Adults will have a good time with drink specials, live music, and an ice bar Friday and Saturday evening.
Warm Up at the Plymouth Ice Festival
Need to thaw out? Take a break from the ice and stop by The Hot Spot, located under The Gathering directly across from Kellogg Park. Take a seat, check out local vendors and see product demonstrations while soaking up the heat provided by Ehlers Heating and Air Conditioning. Or head indoors to warm up at the Plymouth Library, Plymouth Historical Museum or one of the many local restaurants.
